Linking Raindancer with the Pessl API
Raindancer can automatically download and continuously update weather data from a Pessl weather station using Pessl's public API.
To register Pessl API access in Raindancer, go to Settings and then to the API sub-item.
There, click on ‘New API credentials’. In the following menu, you can choose between ‘PESSL FieldClimate API (Legacy)’ and ‘PESSL FieldClimate API v2.0’ under API type.
‘PESSL FieldClimate API (Legacy)’ is the old API access method and should no longer be used.
Select ‘PESSL FieldClimate API v2.0’ and then enter the public and private keys, which can be obtained from the FieldClimate homepage.
Once you have saved the keys by clicking ‘Save’, Raindancer can begin importing the available measurements. This may take > 20 minutes, as Raindancer retrieves the data at fixed intervals.
Generate keys
To enable Raindancer to automatically retrieve data from the Fieldclimate API, you need a private and a public key from Fieldclimate.
To create the keys, first log in to the Fieldclimate homepage (e.g. ng.fieldclimate.com). Then go to the user menu, which can currently be accessed via the person icon in the top right-hand corner, and select API services.
If the keys have already been created, they will now be displayed.
Both keys consist of 48 hexadecimal characters (0-9 and a-f). If the keys have not yet been created, you can create them now by clicking on the ‘Create new’ button.
At the top right of the API key area, there is a question mark button that you can click on to get more information about key creation.
